How to Read Tarot When You're Brand New
Learn what to look for in a tarot card, how to make sense of what stands out, and how to begin interpreting the card even if you know absolutely nothing about tarot.
So you can stop wondering whether you're doing it "right" and start using tarot as a practical tool for reflection, clarity and perspective.

Perfect For You If...
You're curious about tarot, but 78 cards feels like a lot.
Maybe you own a deck that spends more time looking pretty on a shelf than being used. Maybe you've pulled a card, looked up three different meanings and somehow ended up more confused than when you started.
Or maybe you've been interested in tarot for years, but part of you still isn't quite sure what to make of it.
You want tarot to become something you can actually use when you're stuck on a decision, need another perspective, want something meaningful to reflect on, or simply need to hear what you think before asking everyone else.
What You'll Walk Away With
Three things you'll take with you.
01
A place to start when a card makes no sense
Instead of turning over a card and thinking, "Okay... now what?" you'll have a simple way to begin making sense of what you see. Your cards can start becoming useful instead of sitting untouched.
02
More trust in what you notice
You may be surprised by how much you already pick up from a card. An image catches your attention. A word pops into your mind. When you learn to recognize those moments, it becomes easier to stop dismissing them.
03
A clearer idea of how tarot can help you
Tarot doesn't have to tell you what's going to happen. It can help you explore: What am I overlooking? What do I really want? What deserves more of my attention right now?
Ready To Try It For Yourself?
You don't need to study beforehand.
You don't need to know a single card meaning.
You don't even need to own a tarot deck.
Bring your curiosity. I'll provide the card.

What We'll Do Together
One card. A whole new way of seeing.
We'll work with one tarot card as a group. Before I tell you anything about its traditional meaning, I'll guide you through a simple process that helps you notice what catches your attention and what response the card brings up for you.
Then we'll look at the traditional meaning and see where the two connect.
You may discover that reading tarot isn't about somehow knowing the "right" answer the moment a card appears. There is actually somewhere to begin.
By the end of our 30 minutes together, you'll have experienced what it feels like to begin interpreting a tarot card for yourself. Then I'll stay for another 30 minutes of live Q&A — bring the questions you've wondered about but felt were too basic to ask.

I Used To Be Afraid Of Tarot Too
I'm Bonnie Koenig.
I didn't grow up feeling comfortable with tarot. In fact, I was afraid of it for a long time. When I first became curious about cards, I started with angel and oracle cards because they felt safer. I even kept them tucked away because I wasn't comfortable with people knowing I was interested in them.
Over time, I realized tarot didn't have to be about predicting the future. I began to see it as something much more practical: a way to reflect, get perspective and notice things I might otherwise miss.
That completely changed my relationship with the cards, and it's a big part of why I teach tarot the way I do today — as a tarot mentor, meditation teacher and somatic breathwork facilitator.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a tarot deck?
No. I'll put the card on screen so everyone can work with the same one.
Do I need any tarot experience?
None. This workshop is designed for people who are completely new to tarot or who have only played with it a little.
What if I don't think I'm intuitive?
You don't need to consider yourself intuitive to participate. Part of the experience is noticing how information may already be getting your attention in very ordinary ways.
Is this about predicting the future?
No. I teach tarot as a reflective tool for clarity, perspective and self understanding rather than fortune telling.
How long is the workshop?
The teaching portion is 30 minutes, followed by 30 minutes of live Q&A.
Will there be a replay?
Replay will be available for 48 hours after the class. But come live — that's where the real magic happens.
Curious About Tarot? Start Here.
You only need to be curious enough to try one card.
Maybe you've been curious for years. Maybe you bought a deck last month and haven't figured out what to do with it. Maybe you've never held a tarot card in your life.
You don't need to decide whether tarot is going to become a big part of your life.
